In this 2-hour workshop, Sutton demonstrated the solo process of being simultaneously in front of and behind the camera. Attendees learned how to plan for camera performances by themselves, light and focus the camera on inanimate objects, frame and position the camera for optimal capture , and utilize gimbal technology and automated camera tracking. Her research interests in phenomenology and the internal world of bodies inform this demonstration and exercise of using video cameras and cellphones to privately record and witness constructed experiences from a more objective perspective. Participants rotated through a series of 5 activity “centers” mimicking the main self-portraiture challenge from each project shown in FOODFACE at the MAC.
Saturday, October 26th: 3-5 PM
