McEachern Gallery Curator Temporary Summer Position
Open to all Mercer Students (Graduate and Undergraduate) with Federal Work Study Eligibility
Position Overview
The McEachern Art Center (MAC) is hiring Summer Gallery Curators for a temporary summer appointment. Curators oversee gallery operations during open hours, guide visitors through exhibitions, and maintain a professional, secure, and organized space.
This role provides practical experience in gallery operations, visitor engagement, and arts administration.
Performance-Based Continuation
This is a temporary summer role. Strong performance, reliability, and initiative may result in consideration for continued employment during the 2026–2027 academic year.
Employment Term
Mid-May through the start of the Fall semester in August
Core Responsibilities
Report directly to the MAC Director
Lead gallery tours for guests and community members
Maintain gallery cleanliness and organization
Ensure alarm system is set and doors are secured at the end of each shift
Represent the MAC professionally during all open hours
Required Qualifications
Must be a current Mercer University undergraduate or graduate student
Must be Federal Work-Study qualified
Must provide your own transportation to the gallery
Students should contact the Financial Aid Office to confirm eligibility

Willingness to contribute to the continued growth of the MAC
Pay: $10 per hour
Schedule:
Thursday–Saturday, 4:00pm–8:00pm (During Open Gallery Hours)
Hours per Week:
Approximately 4–15 hours depending on staffing needs

McEachern Gallery Internships
Open to students, non-students, and anyone interested in gaining experience in the arts and gallery operations.
Position Overview
The McEachern Art Center (MAC) is seeking Gallery Interns for a flexible, unpaid internship opportunity. Interns will gain hands-on experience in gallery operations, exhibition support, and arts administration while working closely with MAC staff.
This role is ideal for students or individuals interested in museum work, curatorial practice, and nonprofit arts management.
Internship Structure
This is an unpaid internship with a flexible schedule. Start and end dates are open and can be tailored to meet academic requirements or individual availability.
The MAC is open to working with local colleges and universities to support course credit or internship program requirements.
Core Responsibilities
Report directly to MAC Director, Jonathan Cohen
Assist with exhibition installation and deinstallation
Support gallery operations during open hours and events
Engage with visitors and provide information about exhibitions
Assist with general gallery upkeep and organization
Contribute to programming, events, and administrative tasks as needed
Ideal Qualifications

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Eligibility
Open to Mercer University students, students from other institutions, and community members
