Ocmulgee to Okmulgee 2025

Welcome to the Third Annual Exhibition of Ocmulgee to Okmulgee, a vibrant celebration of Indigenous creativity and culture. Proudly sponsored by the Ocmulgee Mounds Association, whose ongoing support makes this exhibition possible, this show coincides with the Ocmulgee Indigenous Celebration at the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park—uniting both craft and fine art into one powerful experience.

Ocmulgee to Okmulgee reflects the historic journey and removal endured by the Muscogee and other Indigenous peoples—from their original homelands in Georgia to present-day Oklahoma. While acknowledging this chapter in history, the exhibition also symbolizes a powerful return, honoring their resilience by bringing their art, culture, and history back to the land of their ancestors.

With ancestral roots deeply connected to the Ocmulgee Mounds, this exhibition honors the traditions, stories, and skills passed down through generations. It offers a fresh perspective on Muscogee culture and lifestyle, as told through the dynamic voices of contemporary artisans.

This year’s showcase features three powerful forms of media: jewelry, painting, and woodworking. With an emphasis on process and storytelling, visitors are invited not only to view the works but to engage with the artists, learn about their techniques, and discover the deep ancestral connections behind each piece.
